... the fuck you mean you've had too many teeth broski.
OH well when I was like eight I had an extra tooth that was trying to grow upwards, like, into my nose, so they had to go in and surgically remove that one. smh. it fucked up all my other teeth somehow so then i got braces immediately after. i have really good mouth genetics actually.
#unfort i was EIGHT YEARS OLD#and therefore not capable of taking care of braces#so then they removed them#and then when i was like twelve i had another oral surgery#to remove that flap of skin like? under your lip#just below your nose and above your front teeth?#the place where you get a smiley piercing#yeah i dont have that they cut it out#and then immediately after THAT surgery i got braces again#and then when i was fourteen i had to get a root canal#coz ig my teeth have pits in the backs of them?#which makes it easy for bacteria to crawl up in them? or smth#anyway i had an abscess and a massive infection#was in horrible pain had a fever etc etc and we went to the dr and he said go to the dentist so we went to the dentist#and the DENTIST said i was just being DRAMATIC abt my braces and to ignore it#and then i happened to see my orthodontist like a week later and he was like#yah uh the color on that tooth is weird i wanna xray it#OH YEAH ACTUALLY THERES A HORRIBLE INFECTION. were referring you to an oral surgeron#and then i went to the oral surgeon for the consult and she said mmmm actually im like?#super dupes worried that the infection is gonna move into ur brain and kill u like. literally any minute now so uhhhhh can we do the surger#like#RIGHT NOW??? ill cancel all my other appts#so we did#but then the infection was so bad that it came back so a week later we did a second surgery#but this time they went in thru an incision in my gums to like. scrub out all the infection i guess#and it had eaten away a part of my jaw so i got a BONE GRAFT#and like sixteen stitches#but now its okay :)#i have a gum scar#anyway now my wisdom teeth are doing things lol

pain has veeeeeery suspiciously disappeared from the tooth which makes me veeeeeeeery suspicious bc that’s not good lmfao bc if the pain goes without treatment, it means smth in that tooth has fucking died if I can’t feel anything anymore LMAO. okay if I press hard enough it hurts but it’s nowhere near the sharp ass pain it’s been leading up to this point so! I’m gonna go into that appointment expecting dead nerves and an infection or abscess of some kind. I’m also going in expecting the tooth to get ripped out so! what a day that’s gonna be
#:)#like lack of pain means nerves that were on the fritz the entire time#are not responding anymore#I know this from my tooth hurting. it stops. it comes back. it stops. I get a root canal. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯#mind you the one tooth I did have pulled had a hole so fucking big I’m assuming#it just took the nerves clean out at the start#bc that hole got BIG. BIG. I could put my tongue in that thing I had to clean it out after every meal#and I told the receptionist on the phone yeah there’s a hole and she’s like how can you tell#I CAN PUT MY TONGUE THROUGH HALF THE TOOTH LMFAO#but a different tooth HURT so we fixed that one first dmfnfndj AND GET THIS. ITS THE ONE IM EXPECTING TO BE RIPPED OUT#HAH. A FULL CIRCLE. MAN. THAT WHOLE HUGE FUCK OFF FILLING FOR NOTHING#luckily they cap at a certain amount per financial year so it’s $36 or smth and if I go enough and hit the cap I don’t pay anymore which is#additionally the first pulled tooth was a very back molar also. this one is on the other side and on the lower jaw instead#which Could effect chewing a bit#but like the other one I figure I’ll get used to it. so. it is what it is#I’m willing to just say goodbye I just want a photo of it if possible#bc one root canal was like. a worry. bc of how fucking huge my roots are they worried the filling#would push the tooth in and it’d hit nerves and maybe it would reject. alas that did not happen so!#ooc#can you tell we have good luck with teeth in my family#I’m not the only one with teeth missing and technically with how bad mine are they’re still not even the WORST so! silver linings!

Please help my best friend save their teeth!
Hello, my name is Tulip and I made this blog as a supplementary way to boost the GoFundMe campaign currently underway for my best friend Peyton's dental expenses.
Peyton has been my best friend for seven years now, and for as long we’ve known each other they’ve had to deal with a multitude of dental issues. They were recently able to visit a dentist for the first time in over a decade, and it was only after their broken tooth had gotten so bad, they were unable to eat, sleep, or do anything but try and distract themselves from the pain. We were able to get that tooth extracted, but due to the cost the remaining issues have gone untreated. If they aren’t able to get more work done soon they’ll end up needing root canals for the worst two.
Tumblr media
The priority right now are two teeth-- #19 and #29 in the diagram. Those are the pair causing the most pain and can be fixed with crowns--so long as they're treated ASAP. An appointment has been made for March 18th, with the estimated total coming out at $1,088.60 after the amount covered by insurance. This will be our short-term goal to reach.
I'm sure many of you reading this have personally experienced mouth pain, so you can imagine how hard this has been on Peyton. They've been dealing with most of these since they were still in high school. I don't want them to have to live with this burden anymore or have to give up teeth that can very much be saved! Any amount donated will put us that much closer to bringing them some relief. If you can’t donate, please consider sharing. Thank you for reading!

I am in pain
Hey uh this is kinda embarrassing bc I promised myself I wouldn't need to e-beg anymore after last year's problems but. I have a tooth abscess (picture under the cut) and now I need to get a root canal and an inlay. My health insurance will cover the root canal but not the inlay, which will cost me 536.000 Colombian pesos (around 136 USD) and I can't really cover it rn bc my husband and I are moving apartments this month and most of our meager savings are getting eaten up by the moving costs.
I have a few music commissions lined up but the pain is making it hard for me to focus on them, so progress with them has been kinda slow, so I would appreciate any help I can get to cover at least part of it. Don't feel pressured of course but. In case you wanna toss a couple coins my way.

i was dreading the molar root canal I got yesterday because the last one I got was kind of harrowing and they ended up having to pull it. It ended up not being too bad this time. I had some moderate pain during the procedure but it was very bearable. Pain was maybe about a sporadic 6 or 7 (a more consistent 8 or 9 during the last one) I have (I think) 3 more visits to go and then I'll be caught up on all the work I need. I'm going to try to keep up with cleanings now to avoid more bs as much as possible. It took me a really long time to develop decent brushing habits and I went for some very long stretches between dental visits (10-15 years at times).
I'm still having some consistent dull pain (and it actually feels like it's in the appropriate tooth today). But I know this is a common thing after an RC. Pain is a solid 4 or 5. Non-throbbing. Just localized soreness.
So I guess I'm advocating to get in there if you have the means and you have a decent dentist, especially if it's been a while. You're not too late to mitigate the damage and you don't have to feel ashamed of letting it go for so long. Showing up at the dentist is you making that choice to reverse the damage, and honestly really brave after long periods. It's hard to make the decision, even when you're not taking the financials into account. I guess I got incredibly lucky that the dentist I chose happened to be good. But biting the bullet and getting it done (at least for me) is eliminating one of those low grade constant anxieties. And you might get used to some of the non-painful cringe things the dentist does, like scraping your tooth with a hook. If you have it done often enough it ceases to be scary.

my current tooth adventure:
have tooth pain back in...june??
haven't been to the dentist in 2 years because i went on medi-cal and nobody actually told me that i can go to the dentist with medi-cal
call every dentist in my town but none of them take medi-cal
use the search on the medi-cal website and find one dentist that doesnt have horrifying reviews online
struggle to make an appointment with this dentist, wait like a week in pain to see her
visit this weirdly disorganized office, get a big filling done (during which the assistant was like 'oh you forgot to do this one thing' to the dentist at one point, good lord)
two weeks later, go back because it hurts more, she says i need a root canal but she doesn't do those and also she wont refer me anywhere
she gives me a mailer that some business in LA sent her like 'try this place' and a print-out of like five different dentists that all had DONT GO HERE reviews online (again, no referral to any of those places so when i called they wouldn't make an appointment without an introductory appointment first)
go to a community dentistry place, have an exam there to tell me the same thing and actually get a referral
go to the new dentist, have a third exam for the same thing, learn i actually need TWO root canals now
wait another week, get the root canals
wait a month to get the caps
repeatedly be told that some residual pain is normal and could take a while to go away
have some pain in one of the teeth not go away after three months (and get worse) and be told that there was probably some piece of root they couldnt see and now i need to see an endodontist
get a referral
they don't take medi-cal
Tumblr media
there are places on the medi-cal website...gonna have to make some calls tomorrow...

survey #251
Who was the last person to shake your hand? I don't remember.
Coke or Pepsi? Coke, I don't like Pepsi.
When was the last time you struggled to get to sleep? I struggle to sleep every night. It consistently takes me at least two hours, oftentimes more.
Which of the four seasons is your favourite? Autumn. I love almost everything about it, other than it getting dark so early and I'm seeing I think my allergies are worst this time of year.
Do you still have all four of your wisdom teeth? I only had two grow in, the other two aren't even in the x-rays within my gums, and I had those two taken out this past year.
When was the last time you were in pain? What caused it? Earlier today. I'm having bad tooth pain that I have to go to the dentist for on the 17th, it's on a tooth that I need a crown for and most likely need a root canal, and I'm surviving off the maximum dose of Ibuprofen.
Have you been diagnosed with any chronic health conditions? Certainly mental health ones, and only recently I learned I have a birth malformation in my spine that has caused bad back and hip pain, something I've become more aware of with age, and I have to regularly see a chiropractor for it. I also have sleep apnea, if that counts, hypothyroidism, and asthma.
What are some of your favourite Christmas movies? Jim Carey's How the Grinch Stole Christmas is without competition to me, I adore it, my whole family does. I'm also a fan of especially Home Alone 2, but the OG is nice too.
Have you ever met up with someone in real life that you first met on the internet? Was it just as good as you hoped? Yes, and it was a great experience, regardless of how we feel about each other now. I was nervous we'd be awkward about it at first, but honestly it was like we'd known each other forever.
What are some of your favourite smells? Fresh baked bread (fresh bakery items in general), coffee, lilac, stuff fresh out of the dryer.
When's the next time you plan on going to the cinema and what will you be going to see? Mom and I are going to be seeing the new Mufasa movie sometime after it comes out.
If you have pets, what colour are they? Roman is gray and white, Venus is shades of tan, and Cookie is white with brown splotches.
What is plugged into the nearest outlet? A surge protector that my laptop charger is plugged into.
Have you ever received a card signed individually by a large group of people? I don't think so.
Who do you know that’s pregnant right now? My old middle school friend is pregnant.
What did you last use scissors for? To open something in the kitchen, can't remember exactly what.
Who have you helped move? My ex Jason.
At what age did you get your first period? (Sorry if this one question doesn’t apply to you) I want to say 12. I'm pretty sure I was in the 6th grade.
And what age was your first kiss? *I* count my first real kiss being at 16. It was mutual and consensual. I was kissed *by* someone when I was 15, but I turned into a statue, I didn't want to be kissed at all, and even in elementary school (pre-k and I think it happened in kindergarten too), I had two boys who would chase me to hug and kiss me without permission. One of the boys changed schools, but the other - Christopher - I had to keep dealing with.
With whom are you planning trips currently? I'm not planning trips with anyone right now.
What size is your bed? Queen.
What is the last YouTube channel you watched? John Twolfe, it's John Wolfe's gaming channel, he's been my favorite lately.
Who is the last friend you spent time with? He's more than a friend, but Girt. If you don't count him, Summer, for her birthday dinner.
How many people have texted/messaged you today? No texts, but I've messaged Girt and Nohr in Discord.
Last person to comment on your anything? I told a niece happy birthday on FB and she replied to it.
When was the last time you painted your nails? What colour(s)? Oh it has been YEARS, I honestly don't have the slightest idea.
What’s your least favourite alcoholic drink? I honestly haven't tried too much, but I do know I hate wine.
When you’re upset, do you tend to comfort eat or lose your appetite? I'm an absolute comfort eater. It's a large reason I'm obese.
Who was the last person to send you a message on Facebook? Does/did that person go to the same school as you? My mom, and we went to the same college.
What is your favourite brand of haircare products? I don't have a favorite.
Have you bought any alcoholic drinks in the past week? No.
Has a stranger ever offered to buy you a drink? No, I'd honestly be scared of this person. This is not something I would find flattering or attractive.
When was the last time you used a public toilet? Uhhhh I'm not sure.
What is something you’d be happy to receive as a gift, that doesn’t cost a lot? Pajama pants are a big thing on my list this year. I want more that fit the way I like.
Has anyone ever asked for your phone number, and you refused to give it to them? No.
Do you have a favourite comfort food, that you absolutely must eat whenever you’re ill or upset? Not a food, but a drink: Mountain Dew, especially Mountain Dew Voltage. If I've had a rough day, I REALLY want one, more than normal.
If you were to decide now that you wanted to get drunk, what alcohol is available in your house? I don't even think we have any.
What kind of music does your significant other/crush like to listen to? The same as I do: metal and rock.
When was the last time you ate cake? What type of cake was it? Summer's birthday dinner. It was a mix of chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla.
Who did you have your first kiss with? Do you remember what colour his/her eyes were? Jason, brown.
Whose Facebook timeline did you post on most recently? Her name's Erica, one of my nieces.
Do your grandparents ever ask you about your love life? All my grandparents have passed, but no, they didn't.
Who was the last new artist you came across, that you really liked? I'm not sure. Probably someone on Instagram.
What was the last thing a friend bought for you? Girt bought Advil for my toothache while I was at his house.
Do you like Rice Krispie Treats? I do.
Are you a fan of Pokemon? I am! I'm not big on the games, they're too repetitive for me and I'm also not good at learning type weaknesses and strengths, although I do like Pokemon GO. I love the creatures themselves and the show was one of my first obsessions.
Do you like chips and salsa? Love it.
How many couches are there in your house? Two, both are just two-seaters. One came with the house.
Are you using a laptop or desktop? Laptop.
Have you ever been depressed? I've been depressed since I hit puberty, I have it chronically and severely.
Have you ever felt torn between two guys/girls? I have, I was once torn between Jason and Juan before Jason and I got together. Thank the fucking lord Juan and I never got serious to be honest, he was not a good person and I dread to think what could have happened between us.
What is your ethnicity/culture/heritage? I'm Caucasian with German, Irish, and Polish heritage, that I know of. I don't really know Dad's heritage, I don't think he does either.
Do you enjoy going to the dentist? HELL NO. I used to not mind, but then I started to pay for dental neglect because of depression, and now I hate it. I dread the appointment I have coming up.
When did you last eat something you didn’t like? Honestly, I don't eat things I don't like. Even to "be polite," I can't fake that shit.
Do you think you’d survive if zombies took over the world? Hell no. The VAST majority of people wouldn't, I really don't get those folks who get excited over this topic, like no, odds are so immensely high you're dead, too.
Do you like the colour yellow at all? Yellow is actually one of my least favorite colors. I don't mind a pastel yellow, though.
If you were to write a novel, what would it be about? Definitely my meerkat RP universe.
Do you think fortune tellers are the devil’s messengers (haha)? I think they're manipulating people.
Have you ever had a serious issue involving your eyes? I mean, I have terrible vision in especially my right eye. I also have an astigmatism. Nothing terribly serious, though.
Have you ever watched South Park? Who’s your favorite character? I never cared much for it. I found the humor usually immature, but I also didn't hate it.
Do you have sensitive teeth? Kinda, but especially lately with my bad tooth I've mentioned.
Do you turn pale when you get sick? I've been told I do before throwing up?
Does it bother you to get shots in the mouth? Does it hurt? Yes, these are my worst experiences with needles. Getting a shot deep into the roof of my mouth at the dentist once was my worst dental experience I've had, it was an absolute nightmare, and I mean that. While keeping my head still of course, I was basically writhing in that chair.
Is anything exciting coming up in the next three months? Christmas of course, and I'll have my birthday, plus my youngest niece's.
Have you ever thought you might just have obsessive compulsive disorder? I have a form of OCD, the obsessive ruminations sort, but I'm on a medication that works for it. I'm not the ritualistic OCD.
Does it creep you out to see people with mullets? ?????????? a hairstyle is supposed to creep me out??????????
What is your biggest responsibility in your household? Taking care of my cat and snake.
Do you ever wonder what your exes are doing? Sure, I think that's normal if you were once close to somebody.
Do you use the Oxford Comma? Yes.
Do you enjoy baking? If so, what’s the last thing you made? No.
Are you a playlist making type of person, or do you just shuffle all your songs? I'm a "pick and song and binge it on repeat" type person. If I have my iPod, I'll listen to a song by artist.
Let’s say you would make great money doing so… would you ever be a beekeeper? Nah.
Are you a country music fan? No, I tend to really dislike country. There are certainly exceptions, though.
Do you have the cilantro "tastes like soap" gene? Or do you enjoy it? I'm actually not sure??? I'd have to eat something I knew had cilantro in it.
Do you believe in an afterlife? I don't. I kinda wonder if remnants of our conscienceness remain, like I think I believe in ghosts to some extent, but I don't think we're really fully "there." I think death is like before we were born, just nothingness.
Do you think there is one true god and the others are fake or what are your thoughts on religion altogether? I don't believe in a god and I despise organized religion.
Have you ever had any unusual pets? Would you ever want one? This depends on what you classify as "unusual." Yes, I tend to like less traditional pets, but of course still those that do well in domesticity, nothing too crazy.
Have you ever watched Dragon Tales? What was your most watched show as a child? I LOVED this show!!! I had a plushy of the two-headed one. My favorite show as a child was Pokemon.
What do you think of leaving Christmas trees up year-round and decorating them for different holidays? I wouldn't do it, but I don't care if you do. Do what brings you joy if it's hurting no one.
Would you rather give up bread or cheese for the rest of your life? Cheese.
Do you have a fan in the room you're in? I do, but it's not on.
What's something you wish you liked but you don't? Soup/stew. Mom's got something in the crockpot right now and it's made me think about it. Healthy, filling, but I just don't like anything I've tasted.
What's something you've been made fun of for before? My weight.
Have you ever been to a drive-in movie? No. I think it'd be a fun experience.
Would you rather listen to rock or rap music? Rock, I generally hate rap.
What's something you have a strong opinion on? Abortion rights, LGBTQ+ rights, general body autonomy, liberty for Palestine, free universal healthcare, equal treatment and rights for POC, meerkats never being pets, etc. I have a lot of strong opinions, I'm very opinionated.
Do you like watching scary movies? I'm not really a movie person, but I do tend to *favor* scary movies.

I'm not at 100% but I am on the mend. I drone on under the cut. I mean I really do. If you read thank you, if not it helps just to get everything out. My dental care the past year has been seriously traumatic.
I had an inflamed tooth that was extracted yesterday. After needing to be extracted for a week. I have medication for pain and infection. Though opioids never seem to help much. Last night I was able to get some sleep and I can chew again. My body has a lot to repair still.
This experience was a blessing in disguise, as odd as it may sound. For those who don't know, I am disabled. Sadly not in the legal sense. I can't get government support, yet I can't work a steady job because of my conditions. To put it plainly, I'm broke and must take what is given. I was without health insurance for a few years before I got medicaid. Medicaid does provide dental care, that is if you can find someone that takes it and is accepting new clients. It took over a year to find someone that was willing to take me on.
My current dentist has been a nightmare. The receptionist is obviously someone who has never struggled with money or her health. The queen bee type even though she must be in her 40s, low-key Karen. She treats everyone as if they are stupid and is extremely judgemental. Though not a major problem, dealing with her reminds me of all the girls that bullied me in my school years. That's still a sore spot for me.
The dental assistant can't take a proper x-ray. I'm not exaggerating when I say every x-ray needs at least 4 attempts. One time it took 7 tries. There is a major communication issue. I spent 15 minutes on the phone with her explaining that my filling fell out and that I can see the hole in my tooth. I don't know what she wrote down but no one knew I was coming in to have a filling redone. She is the go between for the front desk and the doctor and no one knows what's really going on. Every time I have work done she about waterboards me. She also is out of synch with the doctor. The doctor has to prompt her and even then sometimes she doesn't do what she needs to. They usually fight with each other. She is a nice person, but I feel she isn't qualified to do what she's doing.
The doctor is...something. When she isn't doing work on me she is okay and listens to me. When she's doing work she's no non-sense, which I respect, but it doesn't help my anxiety. She tells me to not fight her and to keep my head still. (I'm sorry, I can't breathe and I'm trying to not die but okay. Besides I barely moved, but now you can't see what you're doing because this place is lit worse than Dracula's castle.) She has me bend my neck back in an unnatural position that makes it difficult to breathe. I'm getting blasted with water going down my throat. I'm not completely numbed out, yet I get trigeminal neuralgia that I have to deal with for a week. (That has happened twice.) My tongue will be cut and/or burnt. I've had my lip and chin sliced as well. The entire time I feel like she's either going to yell at me or give up and say, "I can't work on you." I'm good at reading people and I can sense her frustration.
As mentioned, the lighting in there is terrible. The overhead light isn't adjustable or very bright. The chair doesn't allow for the head to gently fall back, hence the awkward pinch neck/pinned back head position that you have to hold. They don't let me see my x-rays or explain things in layman's terms. I haven't memorized teeth numbers as I didn't know that was a skill I needed. They can't seem to say 1st molar on the bottom left, just tooth 19 and I'm supposed to know which one that is. Communication over all is poor. They don't offer a print out of treatment plans so I can just figure it out myself. Their x-rays can't tell them if I need a root canal done on teeth or not. Which reminds me, they don't do root canals because they don't have the machine. They're impossible to get a hold of, they literally don't answer the phone. You have to leave a message and wait for them to get back to you. They don't have an emergency line meanwhile they are closed friday-sunday. Every time I go there I leave feeling stupid, worthless, and ugly. But, they're the only place I can go to for free and I have a lot of dental issues. End background origin.
So less than a year ago I had a filling done. It never sat right, it was overfilled, it hurt, eventually there was a gap, in Dec it fell out, 1 out of 10 bad. They had to redo it and made it sound like it was my fault it fell out. As they worked on me the tool broke. It was an interchangeable part but the new piece didn't fit. So they had to try to get the old one to work again, which they did. But if they couldn't get it working I guess I would just have to deal with an even bigger hole in my tooth for who knows how long. They told me if the pain lasts longer than 2 weeks to tell them. 2 weeks go by and I'm feeling pretty good. Slight soreness, but for a deep filling seems okay. 2 weeks and 3 days later, oh this actually hurts...but it is a major filling, the other one was like this and the pain went away after a few additional weeks. I thought it was part of the healing process as I've heard deep fillings take longer to heal and can be more painful than small ones. A couple more days, holy shit this pain is bad! I need my tooth pulled! I call and get no response, I email and get nothing, I even showed up in person and they were closed. Which is why I didn't get a response. It was during business hours on thursday. They're going to be closed all weekend. I considered going to the ER, but there isn't much they can do besides pain meds while there and antibiotics. I'm in the worst pain of my life. (This is coming from someone who walked on a broken foot for a month before finally admitting to myself it was broke and I should get medical help. I know pain.) Not only that I am worried about infection.
My mom gets and pays for my appointment at a local dentist for the following day as they do emergency appointments even for new clients. They happen to be running a deal this month and the cost ends up $19 for a full consult and extensive x-rays. Which they want to do before doing any work, understandable. Everyone there is pleasant, there's zero judgement. The place is well lit, too bright for me but absolutely needed for them. There is laughing and jokes between the staff. I get my x-rays first. None of them had to be redone. They also can tell which teeth need root canals. Everyone there listened to me and was sympathetic. When I told them my dentist didn't do root canals they were shocked. They showed me my x-rays and explained exactly what was going on with all of my teeth using layman's terms. They gave me multiple options far as saving teeth vs extractions. I told them with how much work was done on the one tooth and how much it hurt, I just wanted it gone. I was reassured that missing one tooth shouldn't cause me problems and all my bottom teeth looked good. They didn't mention how they were overcrowded, just they were healthy. They talked about my top teeth...yeah a lot of work still on those. But they can give me my smile back. I had a couple accidents which have cost me 2 teeth already, a baby tooth that needs to go, and now a days 3 that have major cavities that I could lose. All of which is, well depressing, but I was aware of it all already so it wasn't a shock. A lot of factors have gone in to my teeth but many people see missing teeth and judge. Even if they didn't I feel ugly. The past three years I haven't smiled much and I avoid photos to the point that people comment how great I am at dodging photos. My grandma felt bad and was willing to pay for an implant for my front tooth. Though I still would be missing a lot and thus still feel unattractive. For around the same price I can get a partial denture and have all my missing teeth filled in. My other dentist never gave me that option and wanted to push a bridge that would cost that only covered some of the back teeth. I already planned to go back just for the partial at some point but the extraction sealed the deal.
While they don't take medicaid, they do have a discount program that has a yearly fee of a little over $100. I signed up and already saved $330 on the extraction. Technically $230 if you subtract the yearly fee. It will knock down the price of the denture too. All work gets a discount. It's not free but it's about as cheap as you can get.
Extraction day I'm numbed out and wow am I numb! It's then that it hits me. I never felt that numb for work at the other dentist even with them doing more shots than what was done there. The chair lets my head fall back and I don't have to do the kink neck thing. I can breathe normally. They move the light and it adjusts. It's blindingly bright and they give me sunglasses to wear. The two of them moved so well together I could swear the doctor just had four hands. Anytime he said he needed a tool or suction, she had it covered. She did spurts of water and suctioned it out, none went down my throat. He kept telling me how good I was doing. He apologized a few times and when I alerted him to my tmj hurting on the opposite side he supported my jaw. I know my head moved just because of the force of everything. That wasn't an issue for them. Zero injuries to my tongue or face. Unfortunately, I did still have pain, but I know without a doubt I had the least amount of pain possible. He asked if I wanted any meds, another thing that my other dentist never offers. They are open more hours AND they have an emergency line that can be called.
It was night and day. I felt safe and I was treated like a human being. I will have to talk to my grandma and see if she will support me in getting most of my work done there. I will use the other place to get my two crowns covered and an easy extraction, the baby tooth, then goodbye forever. It's like feeling real love after being in an abusive relationship. I can't believe how I was treated. Maybe if I was in prison I could understand it. Even then I think it's still inhumane. I got a deep cleaning done at the new place as well as some preventative care. There are so many more people there and all of them are friendly and caring. 10/10
I cancelled my cleaning for the other dentist and they got back to me instantly. Hmm...okay, you don't like me cancellin, yet you don't do anything to keep me around. They actually got back to me the night before my extraction. While I was waiting on them I got antibiotics and an appointment for the extraction within a few days. I'm sure with them it would have been a week or more I'd have to deal with the pain.
This discount thing I have apparently has something with vision care as well. My eye care is a very similar story...I should see if walmart takes it because I went to them for years and never had an issue. Well besides the air puff machine punching my eye. That was a one-off thing. This other place, nothing but problems. When you have medicaid you're treated like shit. At least my doctor-doctors and specialists are all wonderful.

Kaoru's Sweeny Todd outfit
A confession I need to vent, its been nearly two years of feeling this way...
Everyone always says Kaoru's Sweeny Todd is like Johhny Depp, but for me, everytime I see him in that outfit it reminds me of my dentist back in England.
My nickname for her was Sweeny Todd! My friends used to call her 'The Butcher'. So, you get the idea...(We always had a severe shortage of dentists back then, there was only one in town at the time, avoided unless you were absolutely desperate)
When I was 20 years old she filled a cavity for me...twice, which got infected inside...twice (the second time was a root canal, I don't know if you can imagine that pain). I called her up, and begged her to help. She said she was full that day, but would fit me in as a 'special case' after hours. I only had to bring someone with me to drive me home.
I took my mum with me. She said I was in and out in 5 minutes. The dentist sedated me as soon as I was in the chair, and then I'm assuming she just grabbed a pair of pliers and yanked, because I was carried out to my mum's car minus the infected tooth, bleeding and still fully sedated within a few mins.
Got home, my mum had to get someone to help her carry unconscious, blood-soaked me into the house. I started to come round, didn't know where I was or who my family were, bleeding everywhere, kept trying to escape from the house. According to my mum, my normally blue eyes were dilated totally black, my face and clothes were covered in blood, and with my crazy behavior it was like something out of a horror movie. I also tried to call a friend to come and 'save me', who later said my voice sounded like I was possessed by demons.
I eventually fell asleep, and woke up the next morning to see my bed and clothes covered in huge blood stains, panicked thinking Id been stabbed, but then remembered that Id been to see Sweeny Todd the night before, and it all made sense! And that was the last time I went to the dentist before I left England.
And thats what I think of everytime I see Kaoru in that bloodsoaked Sweeny Todd costume!! Help me!! 😂😅😂

My mother was so kind to her teeth and did her best to take care, but she would still need root canals and crowns and all sorts of expensive stuff. Like half her mouth had expensive work done.
Meanwhile my dad was so bad about brushing his teeth that I started reminding him by the time I was 10 years old, constantly bit packages open, drank coffee and beer and everything. Never once lost a tooth, still hasn't even in old age.
Turns out I take after my mother, but I only realized that after being bulimic as a teen and destroying my teeth even harder. I've taken amazing care of them since then but they still need so much work just to not be in pain all the time.
My 95 year old grandfather died in Jan of 22, still had all of his teeth. Made extra sure to take care of them since he was a kid because he played the trumpet and coronet and did so very well right up till a few months before he passed.
Couldn't risk a bad tooth, music was a hobby and a job that took him all over the world to meet people in every corner of the earth.
I think aside from the care he took he probably won the lottery in the good teeth from the start department to.
You may run into some issues in the future because of the ED thing, but like I said on the other, they're finding things that can make teeth better and bring em back to where they should hopefully be.
Which is very very good and hopefully they can get it going before you wind up with any issues that could cause a loss.

Haven't really posted information about my recent medical issues so might as well catch up on it for here!
First things got bad enough where for July 4th I had to go to an Urgent Center in a nearby town where they gave me an injection to help with the migraine/headache pain that was making it basically impossible for me to go to sleep. I slept for three hours after that, and then after I woke up me and mom baked burgers for the holiday, then I slept all night.
Did not solve the problem.
Went to a dental place to get a root canal on a tooth that had been ignored for a good five years and hurt like fuck. That stopped the migraine and headache for a while... for like a day and then they started again. Tooth hurt less and it definitely needed to be done...
Did not solve the problem though.
Cut to last Sunday, where the migraine and headache were happening so often that it was basically daily. It had been happening here and there for years since HIGH SCHOOL, but in the previous years it had started happening more and more. I had mom take me to a hospital in the nearby city, and I asked them for an MRI. They couldn't give me an MRI, but they could give me a CT and OH BOY turns out there was a tumor in my head!
I lack any memory whatsoever between the point where they said they found a growth in my head with the CT scan, and the point where I woke up with quite a lot of stuff down my throat into my lungs. They had to hold my arms down while I was waking up, because I was dreaming of that thing HURTING in my throat and my arms were trying to pull it out. When I woke up finally my arms stopped moving and I just tried to move the thing away from the back of my throat a little with my teeth since it was scratching me back there. They pulled it out and started moving me to another place to recover. I'd been unconscious for two days, and then would spend another two days recovering in the hospital. Apparently I was recovering well enough that they let me go after two days. Now I just gotta wait for the biopsy.
Sleeping has been challenged because I seem to have post surgical insomnia, nights are hot as fuck and I basically like there hurting and feeling distressed mentally until some point in the morning I MAYBE get four hours or so of sleep eventually. Gonna start taking sleeping pills every night, hopefully that stops being a thing after a while and I can just sleep normally again.

i still have that piece of tooth from my surgery um oral surgery / dentist tlak ok
ya so like 9 years ago i had a tooth abscess and got a root canal in one of my molars but the dentist somehow like fucked it up and didnt do it completely?? and then like uhh maybe 2 years ago now. i got another abscess in the same tooth. so i went to thr dentist and he was like yea lets just pull it out and im like ok idgaf just make it stop causing me terrible horrible pain. and he like. broke it while pulling it out so the roots were still in there, and when he tried to grab those to pull them out he ended up shoving one of the fucking broken pieces of my infected tooth clean thru into my sinus cavity. and then he was like damn :/ ok so you need surgery i cant do that tho lol 😂 and well it sucked and was bad. but i did manage to get a pretty early surgery date and they let me keep the piece of tooth after they dug it out of my face. and then i had to pay $3k bc my insurance didnt cover it. i dont eat popcorn anymore (cause of the abscess both times) and i brush/floss my teeth constantly like some sort of tooth fiend. i dont want to go back to my shitty dentist (there r no other ones in the area) and i dont want to spend another several thousand dollars on a stupud tooth. so fine get scrubbed you stupid fucking bone nubs.

So i have been having a tooth ache last week. It was where my tooth was decayed. I went to the dentist asap, but the infection was already spread a bit to my jaw bone. The doctor offered to try and save it, so she did the root canal treatment however it didn't take and my tooth was still hurting and the left side of my face was all swollen. I was like this for 2 days until i could get the tooth extraction procedure today and let me tell you it was The worst experience i had in my 30 years of life. The local anesthesia worked on my face and tongue... But not the painful tooth. It was absolute hell. I felt excruciating pain while the surgeon was pulling the tooth out of my mouth. I screamed in pain. The tooth got crushed and then i got another dose of local anesthesia which... did not take at all. So i had to sit there being held down by the nurse while the surgeon was removing pieces of my roots from my mouth. It was awful. I started to cry and felt sick in my stomach. I knew it had to be done, so i still suffered trough it. I could barely walk when it was over. I am so thankful to the nurse who was empathetic to me and gently tried to calm me down and stroke my hair in between pulls instead of ridiculing me like the other one did to my friend.
Thank the universe the pain subsided after some cooling compress and pain killers.
Moral of the story is take care of your teeth.
Even if you are afraid of the dentist like fire, just muster up the courage and go. Fixing a hole in the tooth is 1000x less painful than a root canal or tooth extraction when you get infected.
I know i will. I do not ever wish to experience sth like that again.
